Infrastructure

The pioneer project of the Trust, Mission Valley, is set in a 3.56 acre of land, pitched on a perfect hillside channeling fresh air, light and serenity at Karukachal, Kottayam District, Kerala. The entire facility is designed with the notion of being elder friendly (wheelchair accessibility, wide ramps, passages, grab bars, anti-skid floors, elevators). The total built up area of the facility is 50,035sq.ft having 62 in-suite units. Each individual unit is with an area of about 400 sq.ft, fully furnished with cot, wardrobe, dressing unit, table, chairs, side table, television, refrigerator, air conditioner, 24×7 hot water facility, intercoms, Wi-Fi. The facility is also equipped with automatic generator set (125 kilowatts) which ensures 100% backup power and is also under CCTV Surveillance.

Services (Present Occupancy – 70 Residents)
Mission Valley can accommodate about 70 residents. At present we have a community which include independent residents as well as residents who require assistance for their activities of daily living. The residents who require assistance can be further categorized into full-time care as well as partial care (either day or night) based on the intensity of assistance they require.

During the last ten years of our journey, Travancore Foundation was successful in making great strides in senior care services. One such significant achievement, which makes Travancore Foundation unique from all other assisted living facilities in our country is the assessment – based care plan. Comprehensive health assessment is done on admission for each resident using resident – assessment form (RAF – India) based on which individualized care plan is derived for each residents.

Personnel (Total Staff Currently – 140, which comprises 5 in Senior Management, 4 in Middle Management, 10 in Junior Management, 4 as Executives, 6 as Supervisors and the rest as Assistant Staff) ) The facility also assures 24×7 nursing care under the supervision of qualified nurses including B.Sc. and GNM. We also have a rehabilitation centre with a Consultant Physiotherapist twice a week and a Resident Physiotherapist. We have an MoU with a private Medical College from where the doctor’s (including psychiatrist) visit the facility on a weekly basis. Our facility is also marked with the presence of Post Graduate Resident Social Workers from reputed colleges in Kerala. All other support services like Food & Beverages (catering 200 plus meals for at a time serving), Laundry, Housekeeping, Landscape and Maintenance are carried out by in-house, fully fledged departments with employees trained in respective areas.

Other Activities/ Projects
The vision and philosophy of Travancore Foundation, necessitated carefully designed educational modules and training to equip and develop future care managers to conceive and implement care programme for older adults, which led to the formation of Travancore Foundation Education and Research Centre on Aging (TF ERCA). An MoU has been signed with School of Social Work, Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) to collaborate in the area of education and research on Aging. As a first step towards moulding future senior care managers, we are offering a Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Care Management for graduates interested to pursue a specialty in eldercare management.
TF – MITHRA, our charity division is yet another initiative which strongly embarks that our responsibility goes beyond caring for our residents. Through this initiative, we contribute to the welfare of communities in and around our facility and also extend our services to those who are in need. The various programs that comes under TF – MITHRA include; 1) TARANI (An Educational Scholarship Programme for Children from Financially Weaker Section),2) SANJEEVANI: HOPE FOR THE AGED (Senior Citizen Sponsorship Programme),3) SUBHAM (A CSR Initiative in Association with Johnson’s Life (P) Ltd.)
